I saw an article that stated that God couldn't call a woman to be a pastor. The author stated that if a woman isn't the head of the home, how can she lead the church. The author went on to say that 1Timothy clearly outlines the role and sex of a pastor and minister.
What do you think? Do you think the author of the article is correct? Does God only lead through men or can we all be called?

I'm not sure what 1 Tim (I think he is referring to 1Tim 3 Chapter) says but I do know that God has no concern whether a woman or man advances the Kingdom - at least according to the Bible. If God can use animals why would we think that he is limited to the use of Men?
If we want to get technical, refer to Luke 23:55-56 for starters. It was WOMEN that prepared the body of Christ for the tomb. If you read on to Luke 24:10-11 you will find that it was WOMEN that discovered Jesus had risen. You will also find that the MEN did not believe them. The women's testimony was disbelieved. This is unfortunate that women then and women now get no respect for their call.
If a woman could prepare the BODY of Christ then - why can't WOMEN PREPARE THE BODY OF CHRIST NOW? Isn't that what a woman preacher is doing - preparing the body of Christ?
The man in the article is wrong in my opinion. God will use anyone.

Women take care of the home but does that mean they are the head of the home? What does having to be present at the tomb have to do with being the leader/head? Why didn't Jesus choose twelve men? He could have choose whom He wanted but He didn't, right?
The reason women are leading in the church now is because there aren't enough MEN in churches. Its sad but true men are killing themslves and the church.

I think people get too hooked up on “MAN” and WOMAN”. In today’s society, things have changed. There are many households with out a man. Women are raising their children and their grandchildren without a man in the home. They are forced to take on the role of the man. I believe that it doesn’t matter which sex spreads the gospel as long as the word is being brought forth and it is winning souls to Christ.

Today's standards and God's standards are clearly two different things. What society and "the church" and I use the word church loosely says right is suspect at times. Women explain this then....
Genesis 3:16 says " Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."
Now God says by way of Paul in 1 Timothy 3:1-5 says "This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
Now that is what God said Himself! Women understand this. Women I love you! Right is Right.
If I'm wrong speak on it....

Church Fires Teacher for Being Female WATERTOWN, N.Y. (Aug. 21) - The minister of a church that dismissed a female Sunday School teacher after adopting what it called a literal interpretation of the Bible says a woman can perform any job - outside of the church. The First Baptist Church dismissed Mary Lambert on Aug. 9 with a letter explaining that the church had adopted an interpretation that prohibits women from teaching men. She had taught there for 54 years. The letter quoted the first epistle to Timothy: "I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent." The Rev. Timothy LaBouf, who also serves on the Watertown City Council, issued a statement saying his stance against women teaching men in Sunday school would not affect his decisions as a city leader in Watertown, where all five members of the council are men but the city manager who runs the city's day-to-day operations is a woman. "I believe that a woman can perform any job and fulfill any responsibility that she desires to" outside of the church, LaBouf wrote Saturday. Mayor Jeffrey Graham, however, was bothered by the reasons given Lambert's dismissal. "If what's said in that letter reflects the councilman's views, those are disturbing remarks in this day and age," Graham said. "Maybe they wouldn't have been disturbing 500 years ago, but they are now." Lambert has publicly criticized the decision, but the church did not publicly address the matter until Saturday, a day after its board met. In a statement, the board said other issues were behind Lambert's dismissal, but it did not say what they were. 08/21/06 08:32 EDT Copyright 2006 The Associated Press. What I don't understand is....WHY do women place limits/restrictions on themselves? The biggest opposition that women face is other other women....Why is that
"Women can't do this and women can't do that" and its women who are stating this and out in the front. You "expect" the men but not the women in today's church. Women make up majority of the "church members" at that!
SOMEBODY TELL ME WHY
